Shirts

  • Use lots of steam
  • If you don't have a steam iron wring out a clean cotton or linen tea towel in clean water and lay it over the shirt
  • Iron collar first
  • Yoke next (section below collar supporting epaulettes)
  • First sleeve
  • Back
  • Second sleeve
  • Front with buttons on
  • Front with buttonholes

Using this order prevents going over the same place twice and possibly creasing sections

Trousers/Skirt

  • If you don't have a steam iron wring out a clean cotton or linen tea towel in clean water and lay it over the garment
  • Put crisp crease in front and back of trouser legs
  • Do not put any creases into skirt unless it has a pleat in the front
  • If tramlines develop, use more steam!
