Shoes
Kit
- Black polish (Kiwi Parade Gloss)
- Neutral polish (optional)
- cotton wool balls
- well-washed duster
- toothbrush
- pair of old tights
- warm water
Method
- Use toothbrush on welts only
- Wet cotton wool balls and apply black polish
- Alternatively use damp duster wrapped around one finger
- Rub in circles until glossy
- Repeat with neutral polish if using
- Use tights for final buffing
Shirts
- Use lots of steam
- If you don't have a steam iron wring out a clean cotton or linen tea towel in clean water and lay it over the shirt
- Iron collar first
- Yoke next (section below collar supporting epaulettes)
- First sleeve
- Back
- Second sleeve
- Front with buttons on
- Front with buttonholes
Using this order prevents going over the same place twice and possibly creasing sections
Trousers/Skirt
- Use lots of steam
- If you don't have a steam iron wring out a clean cotton or linen tea towel in clean water and lay it over the garment
- Put crisp crease in front and back of trouser legs
- Do not put any creases into skirt unless it has a pleat in the front
- If tramlines develop, use more steam!
